Why we’re here

Hello,

We made this site to provide the plain facts regarding Gallery Place Media’s proposal to locate signs at Gallery Place. The proposal is in full compliance with the Gallery Place Project Graphic Regulations, a DC law that was adopted in 2004 to create a sense of vibrancy, and contribute to the unique sense of place in the neighborhood.

The Facts

1. We are proposing the installation of signs in strict accordance with the law. The signs we are proposing are significantly smaller, and far less numerous than what is allowed under the Regulations.

i. Download the Illustrations showing where signage is allowed to go by law.

ii. Download DC Sign Code.

2. Our right to install signs was disclosed in the Condo Documents all residents received prior to buying their unit.

3. We have the support of the Condo Board, and Chinatown Community. The lighting impacts just 8 of the 195 units, and in an almost imperceptible way.

4. The Gallery Place Project Graphic Regulations were created as a placemaking tool for the district, and to aid in the financing of the
Gallery Place Project.

5. The installation of these signs will not lead to a proliferation of signs throughout Washington.
